Ohana Care Connections was founded by Taylor Mauhili, President and CEO. Being born and raised in Hawaii, you learn from a young age how important family is. In Hawaiian, ohana means family—a word and value I grew up with. Being there for both the good times and the hard times makes you stronger as an entire ohana. I began volunteering at a local independent living, assisted living, and memory care community from a young age, as my mother worked there for many years. I found joy and fulfillment in spending time with each resident—getting to know them, participating in activities, going on outings, and watching them live each day to the fullest.

As I got older, my passion for working with seniors only deepened. I wanted to ensure they received the care they needed to enjoy the highest quality of life possible. I worked for many years in hospice, where I truly felt at home. I was able to advocate for seniors, connect them with vital resources, and support them through their journeys with terminal illnesses.

Later, I transitioned into the world of assisted living and became a Lifestyle Director for a secured memory care community specializing in dementia and Alzheimer’s. I loved interacting with the residents, ensuring their needs were met, and helping fill their days with purpose and meaningful engagement. Watching their faces light up as we went into the community to raise awareness about dementia and Alzheimer’s, took them out for lunches, hosted live concerts, and celebrated holidays together, made me realize this is truly my calling in life.

I’ve also had the opportunity to work for organizations that help clients and families navigate assisted living, memory care, and in-home caregiving options. I’ve guided many clients through the state long-term care application process and advocated for their approval for state-funded assistance. This work helped secure in-home care or assisted living services for individuals who could not afford care on their own and had high levels of need their families could no longer manage.

Living in a rural city, I’ve seen firsthand the gaps in medical services, the shortage of resources, and the financial challenges many families face when it comes to care. I want to be part of the change—helping seniors improve their quality of life by connecting them with the resources and support they need to truly thrive.

It is our mission to make you feel like part of our Ohana.
Together, no one will be left behind—or forgotten.
